🚆 Last week, Eress visited MAV in Budapest. Along the way, we discovered some interesting facts. 🔹 Did you know that MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) was founded in 1868? This makes it one of the oldest railway companies in Europe. 🔹 MÁV operates a network of approx. 8,000 km, with more than 3,000 km electrified. 🔹 Thanks to Hungary's strategic location, its railways are a key link between Western Europe and the Balkans. 3 major freight corridors cross the country: the Rhine-Danube, the Orient/East-Med, and the Mediterranean Corridor. 🏛️ Another compelling fact is that Budapest was once Buda, Óbuda (Old Buda) and Pest, 3 different cities (until 1873). The best part of travelling is learning about the stories behind the tracks.
