Eress partner representative won an award!

given by the Belgian standardisation institute

Bart Van der Spiegel received yesterday evening an award from the Belgian standardisation institute in the category of Non-profit-making organisations, Academia or Public authorities.

"This award is given for the 12 years of work related to the field of energy metering and billing. We are reaching the goal. In the pipeline are the approval of new TSI, a non-paper of commission and an update of UIC-leaflet 930. WG11 of CENELEC has reached its goal after 10 years of hard work.

Thanks also to all colleagues at CENELEC, UIC, Eress, EIM, CER and EIM. Thanks also for the excellent cooperation with European Commission and European Union Agency for Railways", concluded Eress steering group member.

Bart Van der Spiegel was graduated in 1991 as Electrotechnical Engineer from the University of Ghent, Belgium. He started working at the Belgian railways developing the energy distribution networks for signalling and also building a first peak power plant. He also adjusted the concept of compact digitalized substations delivering the traction energy to the overhead contact line.

Since 2005 focus has shifted towards the integration of an open energy market into an open railway market. He has been active on all European workgroups regarding the measuring of energy consumption on-board of trains and on the exchange of related data. He is member of Eress Steering Board and chairman of the UIC Energy Efficiency and CO2 Network.
